Midnight Traveler

In 2015 the Taliban put a price on the head of the director Hassan Fazili. He had to leave Afghanistan with his wife and two young daughters. They film the journey with the cameras of their own phones. All of the footage is gathered that way. The film shows at first hand the dangers a family seeking asylum runs into. Borders, camps and waiting are all inside the account. There is play in the footage as well as hardship; the children live the journey in their own way. The account presents the family not as victims but as people filming their own story. Hassan Fazili’s eighty eight minute documentary, a coproduction of four countries, was completed in 2019.
