Miyamoto Musashi V: Musashi vs Kojiro

The fifth and last film of the series moves towards a single meeting. Miyamoto Musashi and Sasaki Kojiro will finally face each other. Along the way all the familiar people appear again. Otsu, Musashi’s great love, Akemi, and his old fellow soldier Matahachi are inside the account. Old Osugi, still doggedly trying to defeat Musashi, is there too. The priest Takuan, the man who set him on this road, returns. But the weight of the film is on Kojiro, long haired, long sworded and pleased with himself. The time it takes to arrive at that meeting is as much the subject as the meeting itself. Kinnosuke Nakamura and Ken Takakura appear in Tomu Uchida’s hundred and twenty minute Japanese film, completed in 1965.
