Moner Manush

The film takes up Lalon Fakir. Lalon was both a poet and a singer. He came from inside the Baul tradition. The Baul are wandering minstrels of Bengal. What Lalon argued was plain. To him the worth of a human being stands above the narrow bounds of religions. He both sang that idea and taught it. The film tells his life and his teaching. The account moves along with music. The songs are what carry it. The film runs drama, history and music together. Prosenjit Chatterjee and Raisul Islam Asad take the leads, with Chanchal Chowdhury and Priyanshu Chatterjee also in the cast, in Goutam Ghose’s Indian and Bangladeshi coproduction of 2010.
