What Mr. Monk's Last Case: A Monk Movie Is About
Years after the series ended, Adrian Monk has shut himself in through the pandemic and deteriorated badly. When his stepdaughter's fiancé dies suspiciously he starts working again, though the case is not really the subject; Monk is arguing with himself about whether he wants to continue at all. Randall Zisk gathers the old cast and writes the show a closing chapter, with Natalie, Stottlemeyer, Randy and Sharona all returning in some form. Tony Shalhoub keeps the comedy and plays him far more tired. The murder plot is thin, but the film exists for a farewell rather than a case. It went out on Peacock. Who it is for: viewers who watched Monk and want to say goodbye to the character. Who it is not for: anyone who does not know the series, since all the feeling comes from the past.
