What Murder in the Front Row: The San Francisco Bay Area Thrash Metal Story Is About
The documentary tells how a small group of young people who came together in the San Francisco Bay Area at the start of the eighties brought about the music that became known as thrash metal. They rejected the polished hard rock of MTV and Hollywood; they copied their own tapes and traded them by post, met in record shops, put out fanzines and built a scene by playing small clubs. The film tells this through first hand testimony, photographs of the period and animation, and shows how the music produced a scene and the scene a movement. In Adam Dubin’s ninety two minute American documentary members of Metallica, Megadeth, Slayer, Anthrax, Exodus and Testament speak, with Brian Posehn narrating. It was completed in 2019.
