Hobart Bosworth What My Best Girl Is About
Joe, the son of a millionaire who owns a chain of five-and-ten-cent stores, changes his name and takes a job in the stockroom of one of his father’s shops to prove he can succeed without the family’s influence. There he meets Maggie, who works in the same stockroom, and the two fall in love. His mother, though, has already arranged for him to marry a society girl. Sam Taylor directed and Mary Pickford produced, and it turned out to be her last silent film. Her leading man, Charles "Buddy" Rogers, was the audience’s new favourite and eleven years her junior; they married about a decade after the film and he stayed with her through the last part of her life.
