What Hot Water Is About
Harold Lloyd plays a married man this time, and his real problem is his mother-in-law. The film comes in three parts: a ride on a packed streetcar with a live turkey in his arms, a catastrophic outing in the new car with the whole family aboard, and a night at home that goes badly wrong. In the last of them he accidentally knocks his mother-in-law out and becomes convinced he has killed her. Fred C. Newmeyer and Sam Taylor directed it together in 1924, and it is among the best known of Lloyd's marriage comedies. Instead of one story it strings three separate ordeals in a row. Jobyna Ralston plays his wife. Sixty minutes, from the most productive period of silent comedy.
