My Breakfast with Blassie

The film takes place in a restaurant. Two people are sitting at the table. One is Andy Kaufman. The other is the professional wrestler Freddie Blassie. The two of them talk over breakfast. Most of the talk is improvised. The work is a parody of an art film. The film being parodied is My Dinner with Andre. Kaufman’s partner Bob Zmuda is in it as well. Zmuda plays a nosy fan. Lynne Margulies also appears in a part. Margulies and Kaufman met for the first time on camera. In the years after they were together. The account is made up entirely of that breakfast conversation. Johnny Legend, Mark Shepard and Linda Lautrec’s American production of 1983 runs fifty seven minutes.
