My Brother Jordan

Justin Robinson's 2020 documentary tells the life of his brother Jordan. Justin began the work four years after Jordan's death and continued it for eight years. The material comes from family tapes and more than a hundred interviews. Rather than building a portrait, the documentary describes brotherhood itself; the narrative does not hide the director's own grief. Most of the footage comes from amateur recordings. The production is entirely personal and independent. The tone is sincere. Who it's for: viewers of personal documentary and family-archive narratives. Who it's not for: viewers expecting distance; the documentary is emotional throughout.
