What My Grandfather's Demons Is About
Rosa is buried in her work in the city and burned out. When her grandfather Marcelino dies she inherits his house in rural Portugal, and the longer she stays the more she finds both things she never knew about his life and an unease of her own she cannot stop. The form matches the subject: the city and the country passages are built from different animation techniques, and the texture of what was made by hand shows. What Nuno Beato is describing is familiar enough, stepping out of an accelerated life to look at one made with soil. Not a children's film.
