What My Six Convicts Is About
A psychologist arrives at a prison to run a study. Nobody there wants him. Not the guards and not the men serving time. He needs six inmates for the work. One of them is a safecracker. Another has mob ties. Two armed robbers are on the list as well. The men have no reason to help him. Trust builds slowly all the same, most of all with the prison’s own fixer. The story comes from a book by Donald Powell Wilson, and most of it was shot inside San Quentin. Hugo Fregonese was nominated for the Directors Guild award for it. Millard Mitchell, Gilbert Roland, John Beal and Harry Morgan appear in the hundred and four minute film, an American production finished in 1952.
