Narcissus Off Duty

Caetano Veloso is a Brazilian musician. In 1968 he is twenty six years old. The country is under a military dictatorship. In December of that year the regime hardens its repression. Not long after, Veloso is taken into custody. His friend Gilberto Gil is taken the same day. The two of them are moved from São Paulo to barracks in Rio. Veloso is held for fifty four days without charge. Years later he sits down to tell it. The documentary is almost entirely his own account. He remembers the days in the cell one by one. He also sings the songs that belong to that period. He talks about what he went through with other prisoners. Caetano Veloso tells his own story in the eighty four minute documentary, a Brazilian production Ricardo Calil and Renato Terra finished in 2020.
