What National Theatre Live: A Midsummer Night's Dream Is About
A theatre recording of a staging of Shakespeare's play. While the king and queen of the forest quarrel, four young lovers and a company of amateur players wander through. In this staging the king's and queen's parts are exchanged; when the one who falls under the spell changes, so does the balance of power in the play. The narrative keeps the comedy while making the coercion behind it visible. Gwendoline Christie and Oliver Chris lead. The audience stands inside the staging and part of the play happens among them.
