What Nena Is About
Nena is sixteen and has to face her disabled father’s attempt on his own life. In the same weeks she falls in love for the first time, with Carlo, whose father has just come out. Away from the eyes of the adults, the two of them test the boundaries of friendship, love and sex. But while she is discovering her own appetite for living, Nena also sees that her father’s existence is becoming less and less bearable for him. Saskia Diesing’s film is about a young person forced to look at life and at death at the same time, and it offers no easy answer.
