What Nice People Is About
Somalia signs up for the world championship in the ice sport called bandy, the first African country ever to do so. But the young players do not live in Somalia; they live in the Swedish town of Borlange, where hostility to foreigners has taken hold. These people are trying both to learn a sport they have never seen and to be accepted where they live. The documentary follows the team’s preparation and the tension in the town together; it declares nobody a saviour and looks critically at the people whose idea it was. The ninety six minute Swedish production by Anders Helgeson and Karin af Klintberg was completed in 2015.
