What Night of the Creeps Is About
A parasite from space lands on a college campus; it enters through the mouth, lodges in the brain and turns its carrier into a walking corpse. A student and a worn-out detective try to stop it. The film plays openly with the conventions of its own genre: the characters' surnames are taken from horror directors, and the narrative lays nineteen-fifties science fiction over nineteen-eighties campus comedy. It knows it is a joke. It is Fred Dekker's first film as director. Tom Atkins plays the detective. Before watching: the studio replaced the director's original ending with another one. Later home releases restored the original, so check which print you have; the two are noticeably different.
