What No Child of Mine Is About

Kerry is thirteen, and she is sexually abused by more than one adult at home and around it: her mother’s boyfriend, and at times her mother herself. Her father pushes her into prostitution. Kerry eventually calls Childline and is taken to a safe house, and from there the film follows a child trying to make sense of what was done to her. This has to be said without going into detail: it is based on a real case, and the real Kerry’s surname was never made public, for her safety. Peter Kosminsky directed and Brooke Kinsella plays Kerry. It went out on ITV on 25 February 1997 and won the BAFTA television award for best single drama.
