A man in Lyon who was abused by a priest as a child learns the priest is still working with children. He writes to the church and receives courteous replies that change nothing. The film hands the narrative from one man to the next, and each wants something different: one wants the church to deal with it internally, one wants the law, one wants a public campaign. That structure shows this is not a single victim's story. No abuse is ever shown; it is all in letters and conversations. Francois Ozon directed. It follows the Bernard Preynat case and attempts were made to block it, as it opened while proceedings were ongoing. It won the grand jury prize in Berlin. Before watching: the accounts of abuse are spoken but detailed. Nothing is depicted, and it is still a heavy watch.
