Chithha

Chithha is a thriller that opens with a title card stating it is based on real events; director and writer S. U. Arunkumar developed the story after reading articles on child abuse, and consulted abuse survivors, government officials, and NGOs for feedback before finalizing the script. Siddharth, who also produced the film, plays a government employee whose niece goes missing, in what's been singled out as one of the strongest performances of his career. Who it's for: anyone interested in Tamil cinema that treats a heavy social issue like child abuse with research driven seriousness. Who it's not for: viewers who can't handle a detailed treatment of violence against children.
