What No Man Is an Island Is About
George Tweed was a radioman in the United States Navy. He was on Guam during the Second World War. Japanese forces took the island. The servicemen there were captured. Tweed was the only one who was not. He stayed hidden on the island for nearly three years. The islanders helped him. They gave him shelter and food. That help put them in danger too. In the end he got word to the navy. What he passed on showed where the positions on the island were. The film comes from the book he published in 1945. The story rests on real events. Shooting was done entirely in the Philippines. Jeffrey Hunter, Marshall Thompson and Barbara Perez appear in the hundred and fourteen minute film, an American production Richard Goldstone and John Monks Jr. finished in 1962.
