What No Touching at All Is About
On his first day at a new job Toshiaki meets a man in the lift: Yosuke, who turns out to be his new boss. Something happens between them immediately, and because of a break in his past Toshiaki cannot be honest about it with anyone, least of all himself. Yosuke is carrying his own weight. The closer they get, the more the office, the families and the old injuries all come out. Adapted from Kou Yoneda's manga and directed by Chihiro Amano, it keeps well clear of the soft pink register the genre usually works in. Depression, drinking and being invisible at work are all stated plainly. The silences are long and the gestures small; as the title says, the real subject is how difficult it is to touch anyone.
