What Northeast Is About
A French woman who has come to South America to adopt a baby and an Argentine woman leaving her hopeless village with her small son meet by chance. What each of them is after is knotted around a child, but one wants to take one and the other wants to keep one alive. The film does not look past the inequality behind the business of adoption or the money moving through it. The account blames neither woman; it shows them as people standing at two ends of the same arrangement. Carole Bouquet plays the lead in Juan Diego Solanas’s hundred and four minute film, completed in 2005.
