What Ocean Heaven Is About
Wang, who works at an aquarium, is diagnosed with a terminal illness, and the only thing left that concerns him is how his autistic son Dafu will live alone after he is gone. He spends the time he has teaching him to take the bus, boil an egg and lock the door. This was Jet Li's first dramatic role without fighting, and he took no fee for it. Joe Hisaishi wrote the score. The film does not turn autism into a miracle, which is good; but Dafu largely remains the object of his father's love rather than a person we enter.
