Stefano Cucchi, thirty-one, was detained in Rome on 15 October 2009 for drug possession and died a week later in Regina Coeli prison. His body carried severe injuries. The film covers that week: the cell, the court, the hospital and the gaps in between where nobody takes responsibility. Alessio Cremonini directed. Alessandro Borghi plays Cucchi. The second line is the family's pursuit of justice, particularly his sister Ilaria's, after they saw the body. It premiered on 29 August 2018 in the Horizons section at the Venice Film Festival and was released simultaneously in cinemas and on Netflix on 12 September 2018. At the 2019 David di Donatello Awards it won four prizes: Best Actor for Borghi, Best New Director for Cremonini, Best Producer and the David Giovani. Rotten Tomatoes sits at 67 percent from six reviews with a 6.8 average. Who it is for: viewers who like true stories filmed plainly and without ornament. Who it is not for: anyone who does not want to watch violence. The film does not show the beating, it shows the consequences across a whole week, which is harder.
