On the Move

Atze, Lutz and Sulli are three young men out of work. They pass their days in a backyard. Atze was let go from his job at the works. Lutz has just finished his apprenticeship and was not taken on. Sulli came from Greece. Because he is a foreigner he is given no apprenticeship. The neighbours look at the three of them with suspicion. Their former workmates mock them. Doing nothing grows tedious as well. In the end the three steal a loaded furniture van. A short test drive turns into an adventure. The road gives them a borrowed sort of freedom. But there are people on their trail. Detlev Quandt and Tana Schanzara take the leads in Adolf Winkelmann’s German comedy of 1978.
