What One Hour with You Is About
Andre and Colette are happily married. When Colette introduces her closest friend Mitzi to her husband things come apart: Mitzi is persistent, Andre tries to resist and does not manage it. At the same time Colette is dealing with the attentions of someone else. The film treats none of this as drama or scandal, telling it in songs, with characters speaking straight to camera, and with complete lightness. It comes from the period just before Hollywood's censorship rules tightened, which is where that ease comes from. Lubitsch was remaking his own silent film of 1924.
