Oscar Niemeyer: Life is a Breath of Air

The documentary is about the architect Oscar Niemeyer. It was made for his hundredth birthday. Niemeyer speaks for himself. He goes back over a very long life. He describes what moved him. He talks about what he wanted for Brazil. He wanted a fairer country. He believed his buildings had something to do with that. The film also shows the buildings and the drawings. The talk covers a life spread across a century. Niemeyer looks back over his own work. Lúcio Costa is among those who speak. Ferreira Gullar speaks as well. Chico Buarque is in the film, and so is Charles-Édouard Jeanneret-Gris, known as Le Corbusier. Fabiano Maciel directed the ninety minute documentary, a Brazilian production finished in 2007.
