What Oyster Farmer Is About
To cover the hospital costs of his sister, badly hurt in a car accident, Jack stages the hijack of a payroll van at the Sydney Fish Markets and posts the money to himself. Then he hides out in an isolated community on the Hawkesbury River and takes a job with a family that has farmed oysters there for eight generations. The money never arrives, and he starts suspecting everyone, including Pearl, whom he is falling for. Anna Reeves lets the crime dissolve into the rhythm of life on the river.
