Parandhu Po

The director Ram's 2025 Tamil film sends a father in debt and his son off on a motorcycle trip. Gokul spends far beyond what he earns; the loans he cannot repay have piled up, he is dodging collectors, and he is hiding all of it from his son Anbu. While the boy's mother is away on business, Anbu talks his father into a ride through the countryside. Along the way Gokul realises that his son's tantrums have a far deeper cause than he assumed. Ram's cinema is usually built on class and family, and here too the tone moves continually between humour and sadness. The conversations between father and son carry the film's weight, and the child is never reduced to a charming accessory. Who it's for: viewers who like the emotional, realistic wing of Tamil cinema and father and son stories. Who it's not for: anyone wanting plot and pace; the film is one journey.
