What Pareeksha Is About
An ordinary rickshaw driver in Bihar has one aim: to give his son the best education he can. For that he looks for a way to enrol the boy in a private English medium school. But the fees of that school, and the world around it, are far beyond what he earns, and the father learns again every day where the line is. The film shows inequality in education not as a statistic but as a father’s daily arithmetic. The account does not look past the weight the boy carries either. Adil Hussain plays the lead in Prakash Jha’s hundred and two minute Indian film, completed in 2020.
