Pasanga 2

Pandiraj's 2015 Tamil film follows the parents of two restless children who struggle at school. The parents exhaust themselves trying to discipline them; a doctor and his wife, a teacher, help them see the situation differently. The subject is understanding the children rather than correcting them. The narrative presents differences of behaviour not as a fault but as another way of learning, and states plainly that it is the parents who must change. Pandiraj had made a film centred on children before. The child performers are non-professional and their naturalness is the film's strongest element. Against that, the narrative keeps restating its message in dialogue and the final section turns didactic. Who it's for: those who like Tamil family drama and child-centred narratives. Who it's not for: viewers who dislike an instructive tone; the film becomes openly so towards the end.
