Perayaan Mati Rasa

Umay Shahab's 2025 Indonesian film follows two siblings who lose their parents suddenly. Ian and Uta have not got on for a long time, and after the deaths they are forced to stay in the same house, share the same tasks and witness each other's grief. Both have plans of their own, and those plans now have to wait; the film's tension is built on that waiting. Music sits inside the story as a device: as well as being one sibling's occupation, it becomes the place where they say what they cannot speak. The film presents grief not as a dramatic eruption but as a weight accumulating between daily chores. The young cast is made up of well known names in Indonesia. Who it's for: viewers who like family drama and stories entwined with music. Who it's not for: anyone for whom the loss of a parent would be heavy right now; the film addresses it directly.
