What Perazhagan Is About
Chinna, a hunchbacked man who runs a telephone booth, is in love with a blind street dancer and sets about trying to get her sight back. Elsewhere in the city his exact double, a constable named Kartik, is pursuing the police commissioner’s daughter. Suriya plays both parts and Jyothika does the same on her side. Sasi Shankar made the film as a remake of Kunjikoonan, his own Malayalam picture of 2002, which had itself been adapted from a stage play by Benny P. Nayarambalam. Yuvan Shankar Raja wrote the songs, AVM Productions financed it, and it opened in May 2004.
