What Peter Pan Is About

Peter Pan comes into the Darling children's nursery at night. With fairy dust he flies Wendy, John and Michael off to Never Never Land. There they find the lost boys, the Indians, the mermaids, and above all of it Captain Hook, who has an old account to settle with Peter and a terror of the crocodile. Wendy sets about mothering the boys. In the end the whole thing turns on a choice between growing up and not. Herbert Brenon's silent film is the first screen adaptation of the play. The author J. M. Barrie chose the person who would play Peter himself: Betty Bronson, eighteen years old. Anna May Wong plays Tiger Lily and James Wong Howe shot it.
