What Planet B-Boy Is About

Breaking looked as though it had died out in the United States in the eighties, but it went on developing in other countries. The documentary tells that through the 2005 edition of Battle of the Year, an international competition held in Germany, and follows five crews to the final: Phase-T from France, Ichigeki from Japan, Knucklehead Zoo from the United States, and Gamblerz and Last for One from South Korea. Along the way it also tells how the dance came out of the streets of New York in the seventies. Benson Lee directed. It screened at the Tribeca festival in 2007, and in 2013 Lee made a fiction film, Battle of the Year, out of the same material.
