What Playing Men Is About
The documentary takes up Mediterranean men and their games. The film is built in the form of a travelogue. The road runs through Croatia, Italy, Slovenia and Turkey. Men young and old come together. What they come together for is to play games. It is something their ancestors did as well. The director records what he sees with a light hand. But during filming he runs into a serious creative block. So he turns the camera on himself. The film becomes a playful piece about absurdity. The games look much the same in all four countries. Matjaž Ivanišin’s Croatian and Slovenian coproduction of 2017 runs sixty one minutes.
