What Police Story 4: First Strike Is About
A Hong Kong police officer is sent first to Ukraine and then to Australia on an investigation. A nuclear warhead is the object. The film leaves the street tempo of the series for an international spy shape; the narrative weakens while the fights stay strong. The sequence built around a stepladder is among Jackie Chan's most quoted. Stanley Tong directed. The snow and underwater sequences were shot in Ukraine and Australia. Who it's for: those who watch for Jackie Chan's stunts performed without doubles. Who it's not for: viewers expecting the tight crime narrative of the early films; this one is far looser.
