Pulimurugan

Tiger attacks in the village of Puliyoor are killing people, and Murugan is the only man protecting them. He knows the forest, the traps, the animal. But a drug dealer called Daddy uses Murugan's guilelessness to frame him, and the problem stops being one the forest can solve. Directed by Vysakh, the film changed the scale of Malayalam cinema. The action was choreographed by Peter Hein, and the tiger sequences and fights were staged at a size Malayalam films had not attempted before. Mohanlal, more than forty years into his career, gives one of the few performances in which physical work dominates. It opened on 7 October 2016. Made for around twenty-five crore, it took over a hundred and thirty crore and became the first Malayalam film past a hundred crore, holding the record for seven years. Who it's for: Viewers who like large-scale Indian action, Mohanlal, and adventure set in the forest. Who it's not for: The script runs in familiar shapes and the villain is one-dimensional. The quality of the digital effects also drops in places.
