Qismat

Shiva is a young man who wants to live a little before settling down. His plans come apart when he falls in love with his neighbour. The film enters by the familiar road of romantic comedy but does not stay there. What fate is, and the distance between what a person chooses and what happens to them, is the real matter, and the title says as much. Love not going the way it was wanted is not a mishap here but the story itself. Coming out of Punjabi cinema, the film gives music a place of its own inside the account. The hundred and forty minutes are used to cover a long stretch in two lives. Ammy Virk and Sargun Mehta take the leads in Jagdeep Sidhu’s Indian film, completed in 2018.
