Radio tekee murron

An eager radio reporter sets up a scene to be recorded on tape for later broadcast: he will enter an art museum in Helsinki alone and stage a pretend burglary. But a real criminal gang who hear the plan set their own robbery for the same night. The reporter is caught, escapes from custody and begins his own investigation together with a colleague from the radio. The film makes its comedy out of the power of radio in Finland in the fifties and out of the side of journalism that slides into showmanship. The account sets the real robbery and the staged one side by side on the same night and asks which of them looks more convincing. Hannes Hayrinen and Ritva Arvelo appear in Matti Kassila’s ninety one minute Finnish film, completed in 1951.
