What Rapt Is About

Stanislas runs a large industrial group: rich, married, with a mistress and gambling debts. One morning he is taken out of his car and kidnapped. They hold him chained in a cellar, cut off one of his fingers and send it to the company, and demand fifty million euros. Outside, three parties negotiate at once: his family, the police and the board. Meanwhile his private life reaches the press, and the public stops feeling sorry for him. Lucas Belvaux drew on the kidnapping of Baron Empain in France in 1978. Yvan Attal leads. The subject is not the ransom but that when he comes back, nobody treats him as the same man.
