Raving Iran

Anoosh and Arash are two musicians at the centre of the underground techno scene in Tehran. For years they have put on parties while hiding from the police; they decide to do it once more, this time as a large night in the middle of the desert. Then they try to sell the album they printed without permission, on the street and in shops, and Anoosh is taken into custody. Just as everything seems finished, an invitation arrives from one of the biggest techno festivals in the world. When they land in Switzerland the elation is short; the real question is whether they can go back. Susanne Regina Meures’s eighty four minute Swiss documentary is built largely from footage shot in secret; it was completed in 2016.
