Dierks Bentley K Kim Kassen J Janet Cartmill C Connie Johnson What Red Dog Is About
The country songwriter Luke Dick spent his earliest years inside a nightclub where his mother worked; it was in Oklahoma City, a crowded and noisy place. Thirty years later, having children of his own, he began asking his mother about those years, and she turned out to be far more forthcoming than he had expected. The documentary is built on those conversations. The account neither glorifies nor shames the place; it brings forward the tellings of the people who worked there and looks at where what the child remembers parts from what his mother says. The hundred and four minute American documentary by Luke Dick and Casey Pinkston was completed in 2019.
