Rent Boys

The documentary takes up male sex workers in Berlin. It speaks both with people who have left the work and with people still doing it. The account neither asks for pity nor offers the thing as a colourful world; it records the ordinary as well. What is talked about is not limited to the work itself. Poverty, addiction, health, crime and migration are all part of the same story. Love and partnership are inside the account too. Rosa von Praunheim does not turn the people into case studies; he leaves them with what they say. The eighty four minutes are given to those conversations. Rosa von Praunheim’s German documentary was completed in 2011.
