What Revealing Ukraine Is About
The documentary was made as a sequel to Ukraine on Fire, produced by Oliver Stone, and claims to give an account of Ukraine after 2014. Its main speaker is Viktor Medvedchuk, a Ukrainian politician known for his closeness to the Russian leadership; Stone interviews him and Vladimir Putin also appears in the film. The account presents the Maidan events and what followed in a way close to the Kremlin’s view, and for that reason it was criticised as a partisan political text rather than independent journalism; a viewer needs to see the film within that frame. Igor Lopatonok’s ninety three minute documentary was shown at the Taormina Film Festival in 2019 and was received well in Russia and harshly elsewhere.
