Rickerl

Erich Bohacek, whom everyone calls Rickerl, is a likeable man for whom nothing ever quite works out. He is trying to make a living from music on one side and to be a good father to his small son on the other, and the two never run at the same time. The film does not set out to correct him; it leaves him inside his life and makes his songs part of the account. The relation between father and son is built not from large scenes but from ordinary hours spent together. In the lead is a musician known from the Viennese music scene. The film also shows music not as a promise of rescue but as one of the things that makes life hard. Voodoo Jurgens appears in Adrian Goiginger’s hundred and four minute Austrian film, completed in 2023.
