Rosita

Johannes lives with his widowed father Ulrik in a small fishing town in the north of Denmark. They both work in the fishing industry and their lives are quiet and repetitive. Ulrik misses having a woman around and arranges, as other men in the town have done before him, for a young Filipina, Rosita, to come to Denmark. Johannes is pulled in reluctantly as the translator. Over the following weeks he and Rosita are drawn to each other. Frederikke Aspöck's film caricatures nobody; without declaring the father a monster, the woman only a victim or the son a hero, it shows how tightly all three are caught inside the arrangement.
