Route 132

Two old friends get by on small time crime. Together they set off on a spree. On the way they take a turning neither of them planned. That detour carries them somewhere else entirely, towards a reckoning. The film moves in the shape of a road story, and the real distance it covers is the one between the two men and their own pasts. The crime side of it is not showy; the account is built mostly out of talk. Whether there is such a thing as being forgiven sits at the centre of the story. François Papineau and Alexis Martin take the leads, with Andrée Lachapelle and Gilles Renaud also in the cast. Louis Bélanger’s hundred and thirteen minute Canadian film was completed in 2010.
