Sacco and Vanzetti

The documentary tells the story of two Italian immigrants. Nicola Sacco worked in a shoe factory. Bartolomeo Vanzetti sold fish. Both of them held anarchist views. In 1920 they were accused of a murder. The trial has been widely criticised as an unfair one. Their politics were brought to the front during the trial. Their being immigrants was used against them too. The verdict drew a heavy reaction. Demonstrations were held in many countries. Writers and journalists spoke against the case. The execution took place in Boston in 1927. The documentary uses archive footage and documents. Actors read their letters aloud. Historians and relatives speak. John Turturro and Tony Shalhoub read the texts in the eighty minute documentary. It is an American production Peter Miller finished in 2006.
