Samadhi Part 2: It's Not What You Think

The work is the second film in a documentary series, and the same idea was taken up in the one before it. Its subject is the idea called samadhi. This is an old word in Sanskrit. The subtitle carries a warning of its own: it is not what you think. By the film’s account the word points towards a kind of union. The work sees that at the root of all spirituality and of self inquiry. The account draws on eastern philosophy and on the tradition of meditation. What is said stands as the film’s own argument rather than as a study. The seventy one minutes are given to a single idea. Daniel Schmidt made this Canadian documentary, completed in 2018.
